Grant Testimonial
One of the recipients of the ACR grant was Mountain Road Preschool in Addison. Child care provider Cheryl Danyow shared this about her project:
"I had an empty corner of the playroom where I wanted to add a listening/music area. I purchased an IKEA base cabinet and added a top for the children to look at the book while listening to music or a story. I also purchased a Toni's box and a CD player so that the children can listen to songs and books.
The children use this space for listening to music and books on CD. This area is very flexible where several children can utilize the space and materials at the same time. The listening area has also encouraged creative movement and dramatic play within the classroom through the songs, rhymes, and stories.
This project has greatly enhanced our classroom experience through a different type of literacy
comprehension. It encourages collaboration and engagement with their peers and the children utilize this space in different ways to expand their literacy learning."
