Dolly Parton's Imagination Library - learn more about this program that has gifted 150,000,000+ books to children in 5 countries, including 150,000+ books to date through Addison County Readers!

Children's Literacy Foundation - offers literacy programs for at-risk children up to age 12 in Vermont and New Hampshire. 

Raising Readers - this Maine based literacy program offers valuable resources on their website including What Is Early Literacy? and Why is Early Literacy Important?

 

Videos

DPIL Parent Resource page - includes a selection of videos with tips for reading specific books kids receive from the Imagination Library. 

CLiF Literacy Training Videos - offers tips on reading and sharing stories with babies, toddlers and school-age children. 

Addison County Public Libraries

 

There are 13 public libraries serving Addison County, Vermont. This list, maintained by the Addison County Chamber of Commerce, includes the street address, website, hours, email and phone number for each.

 

NOTE: While many libraries are restricting in person access due to COVID, most are offering online book reservations with curbside pick up and drop off.

Ilsley Public Library

YouthTV offers a wealth of video options to keep kids engaged at home.

Lawrence Memorial Library 

The Virtual Kids Room page offers a great online alternative to in-person Story Hour -- on pause due to COVID.

 

Orwell Free Library

The Story Time Shorts page allows you to watch story time from anywhere. Each video is under 10 minutes.

Addison County Readers' mission is to support literacy in Addison County through activities such as distributing books, providing educational opportunities and raising literacy awareness.
